Welcome to the Human Resources Professionals of York Region (“HRPYR”), a Chapter of the Human Resources Professional Association. Thank you for visiting our web-site. Whether you are a guest visiting our site or you have been a member of our chapter for some time, I would like to personally welcome you to the Chapter and hope your experience is everything you expect.
Throughout my 14-year career I have maintained my passion for Human Resources. I learned early on in my career that this is not a profession for the complacent. Instead, this is work that requires great courage, intellect, and the ability to stand firm with conviction.
The HRPYR is a professional organization that exists to provide sophisticated professional development and networking opportunities to HR professionals at various levels in their career. For many years, our chapter has been promoting the HR profession as a strategic business partner within the York Region area and is committed to providing meaningful opportunities for our members.
I am honoured to serve as your elected HRPYR Chapter President. My hope as President is to continue to build upon the past success of our chapter in assisting our members as they develop and become increasingly successful HR practitioners whose career growth is supported by our programming and exceptional volunteer and mentoring opportunities.
I’m also privileged to work with the group of professionals that compose our new Board of Directors. Your Board Members have created a new mandate to be a strategic board for our membership and instill best practices in board governance. We have also designed our mandate to provide meaningful volunteer opportunities for our members while continuing to increase our ability to attract, retain, and motivate volunteers in hopes that they will become future successors for our Board of Directors.
You will find that we have designed compelling programs for the 2011/12 year that provide high quality professional development opportunities for our members at affordable prices as well as a number of complimentary sessions. The programs we offer reflect our commitment to helping you achieve your professional goals while respecting and assisting you to achieve a positive work-life balance.
Thank you for designating the HRPYR as your HRPA chapter of choice and for your continued support and participation in our initiatives. There are many ways to become involved with the HRPYR including serving on our newly created committees. I encourage you to reach out to your Board of Directors and your peers within the chapter to help make a difference in our chapter.
To those of you who are new to the HR profession, welcome! You have certainly chosen the right chapter. To those of you who are seasoned HR practitioners, a great adventure awaits you at the HRPYR. We look forward to making a difference together.
